Bradbury’s is a family run firm of funeral directors, founded in 1884 by J. Bradbury who was a joiner and made coffins as part of his trade. Originally located in High Street East in Sunderland’s East end, the business quickly earned an excellent reputation for it’s care, efficiency and professionalism and went from strength to strength. Bradbury Funeral Directors has subsequently been managed by four generations and is now Sunderland’s longest serving Funeral Director. Since 1884 when J Bradbury started, through to his nephew T P Bradbury Senior, then to T P Bradbury Junior ‘Tommy Brad’ and today with George, the same values and traditions have been passed down to ensure that when needed the most, our family are like your family.
Bradbury Funeral Directors remains a family owned and run business and has been located in Hylton Road, Millfield (next to Sunderland Royal Hospital) since 1983, now with it’s modernised Chapel of Rest. The fully comprehensive service, whether burial or cremation, offered to families ensures that everything is taken care of. Any personal individual requests for the funeral are carefully attended to, down to the very smallest detail, with the aim of taking as much of the stress as possible away from families and ensuring the day itself runs smoothly.
